NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki on Thursday announced 33 per cent rise in passenger vehicle sales in September at 1,47,912 units.
India’s largest carmakers sold 1,10,454 units in the year-ago period.
In the April to September period (H1 of FY 20-21), the company logged a 36.1 per cent decline at 4.24 lakh units. The company’s sales performance in the first half has to be seen in conjunction with COVID-19 related disruptions, MSIL informed.
The company exported 7,834 units in September 2020, logging 9 per cent growth.
Across the segment, Maruti Suzuki suffered degrowth of 10.6% Ciaz-led mid-size sedan segment.
The mini, compact and utility vehicle segments were a vital driver of sales for Maruti Suzuki in the month of September.
The mini segment comprising Alto and S-Presso registered an increase of 35.7% growth at 27,246 units.
The compact segment, which Maruti is a bulk driver (WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S) witnessed a staggering growth of 47.3% at 84,213 units.
The utility vehicle segment, which includes Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6, grew by 10.1% at 23,699 units.
